Product Review and Giveaway! Bumkins SuperBib®

I have been a big fan of the Bumkins® brand, especially the Bumkin's SuperBib, for a while. My daughter has four of the bibs - we may have to run out and grab her a fifth as I just saw a new pretty paisley pattern is available!

Bumkins Finer Baby Products was founded in 1989 and was started to provide and alternative to the disposable diaper. The company started with the All in One cloth diaper. Now Bumkins Finer Baby Products has expanded its product line into bibs, aprons, smocks and, even an organic line of natural cottons.

Bumkins SuperBibs are PVC, BPA, Phthalate & Vinyl Free and they are made in the USA. The bib features a longer velcro strip than most conventional bibs, which allows you to adjust the size to fit your child. And, a handy-dandy catch pocket means less food on the floor! Most of all, I'm especially impressed with the easy-to-clean fabric. Most days I just rinse and let dry on my counter-top. The waterproof, durable fabric results in a fast drying time, no fading and no shrinkage.

Cuddly because:

• It's waterproof, stain, and odor resistant
• Adjustable Velcro closure
• Features a catch-all pocket to catch the flying chicken nuggets and corn kernels
• Machine washable, drys super fast
• Free of icky chemicals
• A variety of adorable prints and patterns to choose from

Un-cuddly because:

• Like most bibs, the adjustable velcro closure just doesn't withstand a sometimes-stubborn toddler.

Our First Product Review: BornFree™

Here's my story...

When our daughter was first born, after giving an unsuccessful attempt at breast feeding, we tried every bottle and nipple under the sun. We finally settled on Avent as she seemed to grasp the nipple the most easily, and it was most similar to the Soothie-brand pacifiers we were using at the time.

Then, the Bisphenol-A (BPA) information was released in Canada. Being a resident of the US, until more recently, there was limited information circulated, and most stores were still retailing ALL plastic bottles, no matter what brand, shape or size. My mother, a Canadian resident, was adamant that I switch, so onto our next search in finding the best BPA-free bottle for our little one.

BornFree™ was our favorite. The nipples were most similar to the Avent nipples and we luckily had no problems in making the switch. I ordered a couple sets of the 9 oz. bottles and picked up a variety of the various flow nipples from Target. The BornFree bottles have a few "extra" pieces to fit together within the bottle, however, clear images and instructions were included and it was super easy to use.

In addition to the cap, nipple and collar, the bottles and sippy cups have a two-piece venting system to help with free flow of the milk. An advantage of this air vent system is that it replaces the vacuum force in conventional bottles. This prevents baby from having to suck hard, and may assist with babes with colic issues.

The trainer cup, for 6-12 month olds, has a soft {chewable} tip, and is designed with the same venting system as the bottles. The cup can be used with or without the handles.

Cuddly because…

• BornFree designed BPA-free bottles before it was government mandated
• The durable products are free of BPA, Phthalates and Polvinyl Chloride {that's a mouth full}
• The parts of the bottle and cup are interchangeable
• The venting system promotes easy flow of liquid
• The bottles are easy to clean, and dishwasher safe
• If you want to avoid plastics altogether, they also make glass products

Un-cuddly because…

• BornFree bottles are a wee bit more expensive that other BPA-free bottles
• The narrow openings of the trainer cup spout may be a little deceptive, if the cap is left off, liquid will leak on the floor, or in your diaper bag
• My infant was used to the hard plastic sippy cups from Playtex, so the BornFree cup wasn't a good alternative. {She continuously chomped on the tip, rather than sucking}

Naturally, we have a couple BornFree products to giveway;
